What can I do if I am paying too much child support?

Losing your job or having your wages cut does not mean your child support payment automatically goes down. It does not! You must file a motion to change the child support payment and until you do so the regular payment amount continues, even if the person you are paying agrees you should be paying less. Filing a court proceeding to lower the payment is the only way the payment may be lowered.
